How about the same system as the unload auger swingIJ Maybe one of those electric over hyd like the ones for tractors when you want another valve.[just an idea]

We just did last fall what you are wanting to do. We tied a multiplier valve in to the unloading auger swing valve of our 1480 combine. It worked real well for us, one thing is you can't run both functions at the same time it's one or the other. It will work and is not that expensive next to trading up for a newer machine. GO FOR IT!

I am getting ready to try this myself with a diverter valve. My idea , if you go back far enough to remember the round back JD combines. The hydraulic lift reel was a dealer installed option. It used one cylinder mounted on the back top of the feeder house with a cable, pulley system. The valveing was a diverter that plumed into the platform lift line. There was a small lever mounted on the platform lift lever with a small rod that ran down to the diverter. When you pulled the diverter lever, this blocked the flow to the platform cylinder, and when you pulled platform lift lever while holding the diverter lever the reel raised. This was a one way lift cylinder and weight lowered the platform or reel, but I see a valve in Bailey Hydraulics that will work for a two way cylinder. I am going to hook into the reel lift line with the diverter, to get pressure when the lever is pulled. This means moving two levers to get the fore and aft to work, but you just don't move it that many times. It worked on the old 55 this way, and I think it is the easiest way on the 8820.

I made a self contained unit similar to the units that power up or power down snow plows in front of vehicles. I have a switch in the cab that lets me run the unit at any time and not working off of any other system.

Tying into the unloading auger circuit sounds like a good idea. Thanks for the help.
