Combines Hydraulic leak

Ok.....I thought this sounded familiar but wanted to double check with you. I had a 6620 that was doing the same thing and I seem to recall that we took the tank off and the bottom of the tank there is a plating that the main supply hose hooks to.....I can't remember if we took bolts out and siliconed a gasket in there or bronzed it but somewhere it was leaking around that and it wasn't no big deal to take care of. So to answer you question the best I can....it's not a big deal taking the tank off. If the leak isn't really apparent when you pull it off then cap the holes save one and put some air to it and spray soapy water around the outside and that will tell you where the oil is leaking from. I'm sorry I'm not more help.....WE tied into that project over 10 years ago and I'm not real certain what we did but I do know we had the same problem your describing..........YOu know.....thinking about it now........check where the plate is welded on the side of the tank to bolt it to the combine....seems we bronzed that as well. Best I can do.....HTH Deerebines

rf, I looked up the hyd. resivor parts diagram and if you are having a leak around the bottom plate that you have to remove to get to the filter, the O-ring part n is H102843 and was priced at 2.67. looks to be a simple fix when you change the filter. 95

Unfortunatley it is not leaking around the bottom. I can see fluid 1_2 up the back of the cab post between the tank and the cab. I looked again last night and I will replace the filter and oring. I guess I will see when I take the tank completely off the machine. Thanks for the research.

Yep RF.....that sounds like that bracket that's welded to the side of the tank that bolts it to the combine......Peel it off the machine and bronze weld it back together and then pressure test it to make sure you got it all back together with no pinholes. I remembered after yesterday's post and what you just wrote confims it.
