I forgot to say that this is on a 1999 R72 with lateral tilt.

Your idea will work. Personally I would get a secondary valve stack used (usually negotiated to about a 100 bucks) off a old l_M and plug the master valve to closed position and 'Tee' supply into the supply line to the oem valve stack. Run return to sump line. locate the valve anywhere convienient. Now run three wires, one to the oem master, one to the auger swing in, one to the auger swing out, connect the appropriate hoses plug the rest and presto, two way power. (use an auger swing momentary switch wiring so as to fire master on oem every time the switch is activated, either position)

What do you need to run them strippersIJ Is it meant to be run with the 500-600PSI one way varible circuit or a two way 2000-2500PSI circuitIJ You see the circuits you are talking about are both one way and pressure is limited from 2000 to 500 when reel lift hose is coupled to the varible coupling. There is an inline relief valve to limit pressure when coupled up for varible use. It might be that you want to sandwich another valve into stack on whatever side you need for low or high pressure or single or double acting. I don't think it would be to hard to come up with the valve you need.

This cylinder is single acting and not a 2 way. It is close to the same size as the reel lift cylinder and has a 1_4 inch hose between the cylinder and the coupler. The Geringhoff rep said the reel lift hose would operate the stripper plates but then I would not have the variable speed hooked up.

ok, one way cyl. but if you put in a 'splitter' you will have to make sure it is 0 or low leak by as your VS would slow down.. I like the separate valve as posted below using the reel speed function instead of the auger swing or as Dan stated plug in another valve assy. and run the wires. The variable speed, reel lift up front has a check valve _ relief valve, keep in mind. let me check on a thing or two will post later if I find any better way. Gleaner has one of those things in test, I'll see how they do it.

I was wondering if a valve in the reel speed circuit will work. If you could get a valve that the oil could flow through and then just divert it with the solenoid valve using the reel fore and aft switch. Or would a valve in this line restrict the oil flow to much.

valve in the reel speed curcuit would have to have a high flow releif valve such as the torque limiter valve on a grain head. Problem would be figuring out if the line pressure would allow cyl to retract. This is an open center system with a pump section dedicated to reel speed.

This clinder appears to one that is gas pressurized to push it in the other direction. It must operate similiar to an accumlator. I will do some more checking to see if it could retract with the back pressure of the reel speed circuit.

I would stay away from reel speed circuit for it feeds hydro down stream and will never be run at much more or less from 400psi. I think you could find a real lift valve from an eff. '80 l or M or any rotary. Stack it in with the other valves, run a hose, and wire up to the reel for-aft. Would have to study wiring a bit to see how to fire master valve but shouldn't be to tricky. How in the world do they control all those stripper plates accurately with one small cylinderIJIJIJ

Instead of a hyrdaulic set up could a small electric driven worm gear be used insteadIJ Sweet corn harvestors in our area use such a set up to adjust the stripper plates so i dont see why it wouldnt work on a grain-corn head. Electric would be alot simpler then trying to plumb into the hydro system and surely it would be cheaper .
