Combines Hydraulic question

All the row units are hooked together with a linkage system. I am a little curious to see how it works myself. I will know more when we get it on the combine. Are you refering to to the main valve stack for this valveIJIJIJ If you do this would there still be room for the bigger stackIJIJIJ

I am debating this myself but the problem is where it is mounted. It is under the head so it is not protected very well under there and I am not sure there is room for the motor that is on these units. But it might be doable. I will need to look it over a little more.

Yes main stack and there could be more stacked together. You will need longer bolts to hold the stack together and maybe drill new holes for mounts.

I understand the principle and there shouldn't be any dirt get in because you are pulling air out of the tank, but I feel the filter and oil should be changed annually, so you change the filter while the oil is drained. My brother has a 79 l2 that has never had the hydro worked on and good maintenance has a lot to do with that.

The suggestion says in part, place a rag over the spout and stick it into the hydraulic oil reservoir and turn vacuum on. I interpret that as turning the vacuum on after putting the spout in the reservoir during which time dirt in the hose could fall onto the rag and possibly into the reservoir. Maybe other guys have cleaner vacuum hoses than mine.

Tom I had a Cat tech do that same thing when we had to change a water temp senser on my 35. Stuck rag and vacuum hose in top of radiator. Don't think we lost a 1_2 cup of fluid.

I think it is just common sense not to spill dirt into the reservior, but you have to do something to get a good tight fit around the suction_vacuum hose. This idea of pulling a vacuum on the reservoir while working downstream of the reservoir works well, but word of warning, don't get the vacuum hose too close to the oil in the reservoir or you'll suck oil into the vacuum and that ain't pretty.

I believe it has a master solenoid too, the older combines did. Check it. You should be able to stick a metal wrench on the side of the solenoid while on if it is working. (magnet)

Have you been greasing the pivots, I seen a guy who never greased anything and his head got stuck up also.
