Check out this site I don't know if they have it on the site but they make the 2188 style stick to retro fit the 16 series.

I did this to my 1460 several years ago. It isn't really to hard. you need to use several relays so you don't get voltage backflow. At the time it all cost around $200 with all new parts craig
