Combines Hydro coupler revisited

Not sure about whether the hydro has to be removed on what model but I was of the understanding that the shaft on the hydro should be replaced at the same time. Just doing the coupling would probably only buy a little time if the shaft splines are worn. Haven't done it yet but I suppose the seals in the pump should be changed at the same time. Not looking forward to this at all.

Aaron; Yes, the hydro pump must be removed from the housing. Just finished replacing my own coupler on an '87 1660 with same hours as yours. The new ones come with a 1_4 28 threaded hole for a zerk. The coupler is a little softer than the shaft, so it wears the most of the two. The shaft splines showed some wear naturally, not bad tho, so right or wrong, I left the shaft alone. Coupler splines were sharp and may not have went much longer.
