yes, take a squirt bottle of soapy cleansor (mr clean) and squirt on the belt as it runs ( be carefull at and back, don't get into the belt) if the squeak goes away you have a 'scrubbing' or interference between pulley and belt - adjust some more. If not replace the idler. I once heard of a guy performing a call of nature to perform this test. I do not reccommend this approach. Some of us would have to be so close entanglement could result - ouch.... My late Dad had a urostomy - a urine bag he had to wear attached to a stoma on his side. After going back to work he went to the local grainery and bet all the local farmers that after his surgery he could now pp out the top of the bib of his overalls and not get a drop on the fabric. They took his bet and they went out back - he simply fished out the little plastic drian tube out ran it out the top of the 'bibs, bent over and drained the appliance.. Didn't pay for a coke the rest of his life...... miss the old codger....

Are you sure that the noise is in the idlerIJ Have you been greasing the nose of the hydroIJ Grease zerk is located near top of nose behind drive sheave.This grease zerk is NOT in the operators manual! Have seen bearing get dry and start to whine and_or howl. Eventually bearings can fail and spin on shaft which in turn can break input shaft.If noise is not in hydro just make sure to grease nose of hydro. Hyper Harvest II

After checking what they said I would check to see if the noise is gone with the seperator engaged.If it is then it's the bearing on the seperator half shaft.

David, Thanks for the tip, as we did not realize that zerk was there either. We looked today and you are correct, there is indeed a zerk. It will now get the attention it deserves. On another note, since putting in the cummins, we now have a lot of bean residue (looks like material that has gone through the rotor) that keeps piling up between the motor and rotor on the walk area. We cannot figure where it is coming from,as doors seem to be tight. Small area where chopper doesn't seal up perfectly maybe, but it seems like a lot of stuff in a short time (a couple shovel fulls in a days running) for such a small hole. Today I speculated that the smaller fan on the cummins maybe just doesn't blow like the monster Allis fan and that this is why we now have build up that we may have always gotten, but the bigger fan just kept it clean. KW, I probably should have clarified that the Denison hydros were the ones with the grease zerks.Also,it is the Mark X's,XA's,and XB's that have the zerk on the nose.We have installed zerks on the Mark IX's to help prolong the life of those bearings also. As for the dust on the floor,I beleive that you are correct on the fan as there is a dead spot on the front side toward processor.A person could probably rig up some type of air deflector but then it would probably inerfere with getting processor doors off.My advice is to clean it regularly.
