yes, take a squirt bottle of soapy cleansor (mr clean) and squirt on the belt as it runs ( be carefull at and back, don't get into the belt) if the squeak goes away you have a 'scrubbing' or interference between pulley and belt - adjust some more. If not replace the idler. I once heard of a guy performing a call of nature to perform this test. I do not reccommend this approach. Some of us would have to be so close entanglement could result - ouch.... My late Dad had a urostomy - a urine bag he had to wear attached to a stoma on his side. After going back to work he went to the local grainery and bet all the local farmers that after his surgery he could now pp out the top of the bib of his overalls and not get a drop on the fabric. They took his bet and they went out back - he simply fished out the little plastic drian tube out ran it out the top of the 'bibs, bent over and drained the appliance.. Didn't pay for a coke the rest of his life...... miss the old codger....
