Combines Hydro problem

Sorry I can't help you with yours, but I also have been having a problem. The motor (the part that is bolted to the differential) has two 1" plugs on the left side. I keep blowing the o-rings off of these plugs. The only way I have been able to keep them on for a while is with a lot of lock-tite put on as thread sealer. I run an 99 R72. Scot, What year of N5IJ This determines which hydro you have. (Dynapower or Denison) Checking the obvious should be the first thing you do;oil level,filter,linkage,drive belt and idler. If these items are OK then I would recommend getting some gauges plumbed in to check charge pressure and also system high pressure in forward mode.If this hydro is a Dynapower then problem should be in both forward and reverse. I this is a Denison then you could have a problem in high press. relif valve or input control valve. Again pressure checks will help determine this. Good luck, Hyper Harvest II

Kurt, Are you replacing the o-rings with factory repacement o-ringsIJ If not,these o-rings are very hard (Durometer of 90)to with stand the high pressures. If you are replacing with o-rings in a universal kit then chances are that these o-rings are a lot softer and can't take the high pressure. Hope this helps, Hyper Harvest II

Sounds to me you very likely have a Denison. Very likely problem in valve body. There are orings on valves and you likely have one or more eroded away. Pieces of oring can get in orfices in control that cable hooks to. Mark X Denison has a valve that is called I believe rsvp or something like that. It is a needle which needs to seat properly in its seat and will only affect forward if it is screwed up. The needle sits in middle section and will very likely get screwed up if someone has had valves apart and didn't pack it in with grease before assembly. Seat for needle can be welded shut and needle omited for most areas. Must have person with book and be very carefull tearing down valve to clean out and replace with proper orings. Good luck

Thanks Hyper II, I will get some of those o-rings and give them a try. When it first happened I called my local ex-dealer and my old combine machanic put the first ones in. I supposed they were from a universal kit just like the last ones I have been putting in. Thanks again Kurt
