look in the service manual and there is a procedure to check alignment of the pto housing. Good luck.

Nelsoncat, the only replacement hub available from CaseIH anymore is the greasable hub. This style of hub is the same ones used on all Axial-Flow combines with the exception of some very early 1400 series which had the pulley and hub as one assembly. When you install this new style hub, all you have to do to your combine is to drill a 1 1_2"hole in the housing that the hydro pump bolts to so that you can access the grease zerk. However, Doug is right about a procedure in all Axial-Flow service manuals that deal with proper "runout" or "out of round" spec. dealing with the pump adapter mounting. The manual is pretty thorough on explanation.HTH

Vernon, I had the same problem on one of two 1688 I had serveral years ago. On about 2000 hrs I had to replace the hub and shaft three times on one machine and never on the other one, so it was obvious to me that something was not aligned right with the one. The last time I had it off I took the pump adapter mount to a machine shop and had it plained down. The guy that did the work said he could tell that it was not true. I traded both machines off a short time later, so don't know if it fixed the problem but I'm betting that it did. K.A.
