Kurt, We coverted a 6-30 Hugger last year before harvest and two 8-30 Huggers this year.So far everything has been working well. The 6-30 head only runs about 300 A_yr. and the square rods still look new.The two 8-30's run a little over 1000 A_yr, and they show some edges starting to round at the upper end where ear comes off stalk. The head shelling is definitely less with the square being flush with stripper plate. Before with the round rods running 15-17% corn at 4.5-5.0 mph. there was tremendous head shelling taking place, even if you tried to run head slow to the point stalk was getting pushed forward before ear came off stalk.I guess time will tell how long these stainless square rods will last.In my mind, the whole deck plate needs to be chromed!Just like our chromed snapping roll blades, still haven't replaced the original blades that we had chromed 8yrs ago,(or was it 9yrsIJ)can't remember. Anyway, food for thought.I will try to get some pictures of them to post. Hyper Harvest II
