In my opinion if you have green leaves that you take in with the milo you will have some loss no matter what (JD and Case also rotary or convetional)This year seems to be the worst I'm in central KS and the drought stressed milo did not push the heads out of the swirl and you have to cut lower taking in more leaves which I feel is what the problem is. Things we have tried and help are if you have pulled any wires you MUST install plugs in the holes.1_2 narrow bars on the thresher side and wide bars on discharge 1_2. Having good luck with one pair of low bars in 3rd row and one pair of (heaven forbid) rev. bars in 4th row on 93 R72 which from rotor loss standpoint preformed equal to may be better than (depending on who you ask) to a stock 98 R62 with 6 rev. bars trying to hold rotor loss. We had light frost last week that helped more than anything man can do. I wish Hyper , Dan and some of the other hyper professors would plant a little milo to help us.I like the ext.bars for preformance in other crops but doubt they help in green leafy milo. The problem is not getting getting the stuff out the rotor but getting the grain seperated from the fodder in the rotor. Once leaves are dry from frost problem is gone.
