How necessary is the sep coversIJ I didn't even know they existed until I read your reply and looked them up in the parts book. Which ones do you haveIJ I see that there are several different ones. I thought I was done with them when my N7 went down the road.

In my opinion if you have green leaves that you take in with the milo you will have some loss no matter what (JD and Case also rotary or convetional)This year seems to be the worst I'm in central KS and the drought stressed milo did not push the heads out of the swirl and you have to cut lower taking in more leaves which I feel is what the problem is. Things we have tried and help are if you have pulled any wires you MUST install plugs in the holes.1_2 narrow bars on the thresher side and wide bars on discharge 1_2. Having good luck with one pair of low bars in 3rd row and one pair of (heaven forbid) rev. bars in 4th row on 93 R72 which from rotor loss standpoint preformed equal to may be better than (depending on who you ask) to a stock 98 R62 with 6 rev. bars trying to hold rotor loss. We had light frost last week that helped more than anything man can do. I wish Hyper , Dan and some of the other hyper professors would plant a little milo to help us.I like the ext.bars for preformance in other crops but doubt they help in green leafy milo. The problem is not getting getting the stuff out the rotor but getting the grain seperated from the fodder in the rotor. Once leaves are dry from frost problem is gone.

Our milo leaves were froze a while back. I am having some rotor loss in almost dry milo (14-16). I have played with slowing down and speeding up and so far running it hard seems to help the most. I have extended cylinder bars but they all have the short paddles on. I don't have the ones installed that runs a bar clear to the end of the cage. Maybe I shouldn't complain as the Fieldstar says I am up around the 2600-2800 bushels per hour range but I have seen rotor loss around the 1800-2000 bushels per hour figure also. Kelly

Mine is a 95 without the adjustable grate but has the cage material covering the separator grate with all of the wires out of it. The thresher concave is high wire with cover plates on the first 3 slots. 4 reverse bars in the third and fourth sections. Kelly

I'm trying to learn with you and don't really have any quick fix. Sounds like your set up just the way Agco_ Jerry Thurman would suggest.I share your concern in milo this doesn't solve the problem but out of frustation I looked behind a 2001 JD 9750 Super Terrific Seeder aka STS running 2-3 mph and you didn't have to bend over to see the grain on the ground.Across the section his nephew quickly run a disk across his field cut(early Sept.) with JD 9610 then we caught a shower of rain now he has a very impressive stand of solid seeded milo about a foot tall. It needs to be cut for hay or grazed it is incredible.looked behind a 2 yr. old 2366 IH same story on the ground also noticed a nice tight windrow of chaff on his bean field that the no-till wheat is struggling to get through. Its not a Gleaner problem.
