I had flax (linseed for us!) last couple of year's and with all our mod's in our R62 and only a 300 Kg_Ha crop (Very poor season) I found that we had to run at about 10 mile per hour to get it full enough so as to thrash as best we could!! We had lot's of problems with trying to keep the seed in so I tried going quite fast and that made all the difference, in fact I think Tbran's 'crop trip hose"(CTH) on the front would work very well in direct headed flax, as I had some trouble with it not sliding under the table auger very well!,

I can not speak for the seperator grade installed in the P1's with a hi-low cylinder bar setup. Other upgrades are for you and your crops. I do know the seperator grate in the P3's can overload the distribution auger and shoe system in some of your crops. We have similiar crops to you and put covers over seperator grate to make it more like cage material. To take P1 system to the max in corn or soybeans it sounds like the grate is the answer. I did pose the question here a few monthes ago if anyone had any experience with the seperator grate in crops other than corn and soybeans and got no response. Check back with any other questions.

Thanks for the input guys.I think that the reverse bars could be causing a lot of the rumble that was experienced this year.The flax that I was combining this year was running between 25-32 bpa very good crop but a lot of it was lodged down and that was where the worst of problems came from. Had to shave the ground to get it.After I got done and was pulling out filler bars for sunflowers I checked all of the cage bolts and found that some needed to be snugged up.Just something to look out for. Would the hilo rotor setup alone, minus grate but with all other mods be a good idea IJ I am going to pull the rotor out this winter anyway and thatr sounds like good winter project.
