That was totally unintentional, gives me a few ideas though! (My wifes advice is the same for everthing). What about the dust sealsIJ Should I replace themIJ By the way I have a problem with the tach it wont read cyl speed. It seems like the dial that swithes the function is messed up, I dont know about the sensor, how do you check thatIJ

picks up off the engine drive sheave, never found a switch bad. Always the wire or the pickup - 71313444.

We had the same problem with no cylinder speed reading on our F3. The thing was it was sometimes work but only if the head was completely raised but never in the field. We replaced the whole instrument cluster overhead. No luck. Replaced the sensor. No luck. Finally found it was a grounding problem. Cleaning the sensor mounting before didn't fix it so we solved it by running a ground wire from the sensor back to a grounding point in the cab instrument panel. Been that way for 4 years and no problems.
