Combines I H 82 Pull Type Combine

Hey Gator, I grew up with an IH80 pull type 7 foot auger combine. We used it many years on the farm and since I was 14 years old then it is a bit past 40 now. It is a tremendous machine for it's size. We pulled it with a M International or an 861 Ford Powermaster, so 40 to 45 H.P. will do the job. We used to save our weedy beans for the 80 when we were using a brown mule uniharvester, that is another story. If you have only a 100 acres or so of beans or wheat and don't mind having dust blow into your face and have people stop and watch you displaying history, go for the 82 which is a newer model than the 80. The weak spot on the 80 was the rubber bushing in the power shaft just after the 90degree gear box with the shifter rod for the unload auger. The spreader will sometimes wind up and stop but what the heck so will one on a 9600JD. It is a simple, reliable machine that requires only a few common bearings and I would bet that you can still find parts for it. Good luck to you and presently I can still see myself at 14 with the little 80 down by the creek cutting oats with the shinny red paint reflecting the Indiana July sun. Best wishes and fond memmories.
