I had a 1440 it is two sizes smaller than a 1480. One afternoon cut next to a freinds l2 in milo and I cut a few more bushels, mine was turboed and hp was turned up. we also had 1480, I think its more machine than an l2

I would guess that a good 1480 would have just about twice the capacity of an l2.

Neighbor, who I am now doing some custom cutting for, had two l2's. Went to a short shoe 1680 and said they got more done than with the two gleaners. Chads

In soybeans can the 1480 thresh out the small green beans, Can it be pinched down to knock the beans out of the podsIJ Or is the l2 better in this situationIJ Beans are small, not yielding well so can you keep a 1480 full enough for grain on grain threshingIJ

I custom harvested up in Dakota with a 1480 years ago (wheat if I remember) beside an l2. Farmer told us it looked like we were racing each other. Told the l2 guy to slow down. Said the 1480 can do it, but the l2 can't.

We have been harvesting with l2's for a long time. An l2 with the long shoe and the big engine (1980) can cut about 60% of that of a short shoe 1680, which is about 10-15% bigger than a 1480. We just sold our l2 and bought another 1680. l2's are a great combine, but the parts are high and they are made from lots of tin that wears out. They were a cutting machine and technologically advanced for their time. But you get over 2,000 hrs with one, and your looking at a lot of hard to do rebuild. Internationals are all pieces bolted together, that can usually be easily replaced.

you said short shoe 1680 is 10-15% bigger than 1480, any idea what the jump to a long shoe 80 would be from a 1480. Our old 1480 is just about maxed out. Chads
