We have a 4000 with the 19.5' draper that we use for grain. It will cut grain as fast as you can drive, it lays a nice swath, and the header floats very well. Ours is an open station with an umbrella, so I don't know anything about the cabs. The drivetrain is very straightforward with no belts or pulleys, just hydrostatic. No major problems with ours, except that the factory bat reel is cheaply built and will fall apart if you use it in a lot of lodged grain or hay.

I have a mid 70s 4000, no cab, no umbrella with 12' single auger hay head. It has been a good machine. No problems with the tractor but rebuilt the cutter bar a few years ago. It is a zero turn machine- turns on its tracks! Nice to avoid tramping headland windrows of hay.

I ran a 24 1_2ft on grain for many years. It is a really good machine. You can turn as tight as you desire. Very easy to steer and operate. Cab is noisy though. Otherwise it is a very well built unit with few problems. Just make sure you have a good availability of parts. They are starting to get scarce for these machines.
