Combines IH 403

Does this machine have straw chopperIJ If so, if chooper blades are worn sharp it will cause straw walkers to plug, resulting in your above said troubles, We had 715 Combine once an had these same troubles, Which the 715 was just a gloryfied 403, Several fixes for it, either drop chopper panel an windrow straw, replace chooper knives, Or unbolt chopper knives, Bolt together as a pair an grind cutting edge square, Parts man told me with square edge chopper will pull stemms from walkers, with so called vaccumm, And it does work, let me know wif this is your problem!

the chopper belt had broken and we took the shield out and that is when it plugged. we took the chopper off and then ran it about 4 rounds and then they stopped turning again. we talked to a mechanic and he told us some things to try and we have gotten them turning decent now. im used to the other red combines and also the green ones so this is new to me.

can you turn the walkers by hand on the pulley easilyIJ new blocks are easy to get too tight on the shaft and cause binding, excessive heat, belt slippage, low performace. mine is a 715 but i think the 403 is similar. good luck
