sidewinder: It was a snntny year, started out bad and ended worse. Most things froze on Aug 20th, then the rain wouldn't stop. We were giving up hope of getting the crop combined, then got 2 weeks of desent weather in the beginning of Oct. finished flax on Oct. 13th. As far as the rotor mod from Terry is concerned that is the best part of the harvest. Increased capacity in all crops,(30') swathed wheat(spring and durum),peas and canola, (30')straight cut barley, oats. Did what Terry recommened increased concave clearance, slowed the rotor by 20% and traveled faster. Sample was good concidering the conditions. I was able to travel at 3.5 -4.5 mph in swathed wheat that had straw for a 60 bushel crop, neighbor with his CTS was doing about 3 during the day and 1.5 at night. His motor is chipped for more HP(won't tell me how much hp it's putting out). The rotor wasn't a limiting factor at all it preformed very well, the only trouble I had was with the new style front beater that I had installed. If I really tried to push the combine I'd plug the front beater. Tightened the belt up and that seemed to fix that problem. Over all I'm very pleased with the rotor and I'd recommend the mod to anyone who is looking at having to do work to their rotor, may as well improve the machine while you have the rotor out. If you have any other questions email me at nlegaarden@sasktel.net Merry Xmas and a HAPPY NEW YEAR Neil

Neil: Thanks for the good words about the rotor. Ed -- I assume that you've retrofitted a rotor speed control on your machine. Could you pass on info on what you've doneIJ

More Power: looked at Stewart Steel's rotor, much more expensive than the St. John rotor. They wanted to reskin the rotor, replace the rear strippers with raspbars. The money I saved by using Terry's mods allowed me to have my Dealer replace the front beater with the new style one, rebearing the front beater, feeder house and rotor, raise the rear end and install a sidehill kit. The rotor was highspeed balanced on the farm..Neil
