todd08,Thanks to this site I learned about that upgrade kit for my early model 2200 cornhead,I too had to ask them (my dealer)about the upgrade instead of them telling me.I had to pay for it.It is a big improvement in feeding. In addition to the kit there is another plate that bolts to the face of your throat that keeps shell corn from spitting back out over the cornhead auger,I suggest you get it as well. The upgrade bulletin that your dealer gets will have the partn for it as well as the upgrade kitn.Make sure the longer u-bolts for the header latches have a slight bend in them.My kit had straight u-bolts and they would not allow the header latches to lock over-center like they should.Thats right, they had a update to the upgrade kit!Good luck

This sounds like a MM deal more and more. Do you think your dealer stocks any of these kitsIJ I am located in KS. I would think that this stuff would be produced at Grand Island, NE. I would think it could be here quicker. I just had the STX break down on the Grain Cart last Thursday, right rear cylinder lost piston, third time for it to come off tractor, They ordered part and had me up and going by 8:30 AM Saturday, was really kind of impressed with dealers service. Disappointed to learn serial number break on cylinders, just repair old one. And once again I have the early one. Just like MM days

What does the update do for the cornheadIJ I do notice on mine, the corn kind of bubbles in front of the auger. I also had the same problem with corn spitting over the corn auger. I Bolted a 6 inch rubber belting across the throat and that solved that problem.

It raises the head up 30mm front the faceplate of the feederhouse. It provides some tin work to transition it from the auger floor to the feederhouse. Much like the 983,1083 have, and as the other gentleman says the U-bolt latches are naturally going to have to be moved. I hope it well effectively lower the snouts, some. Reverse problem of the JD, everybody puts a wedge at the bottem, we need the wedge at the top. Smells like MM when you have to order the kit 3 times to get everything right. Just my opinion though. Then they wonder why the really big dealer succeeds and the small one fails. I guess it is common knowledge by companies that farmers are supposedly dumb, and can't figure out where to source outside.

Sure wish that kid that said they have installed 18 of these kits would state what town and state he was from. I guarantee I would be calling that dealer now. I bet they even stock the update_ upgrade needed kits. Kind of reminds me of needing a full set of oversize 585 MM pistons. Took three attempts by the local dealer to get a full set of 6. No since in messing around and waisting my time, call the place that stocks them the first time.

todd08, I have two new (made in May 2004) 2208 (30in.) corn heads. Does any of these upgrades (even the new u-bolts that have a "bend" in them to latch it down) apply to headers made in MAY 2004 or latterIJ My u-bolts are long enough but I don't know if they have a bend in them or not. THANKS
