We run the Double Cut II, which is unusual around here. It has continuous hold downs, and everyother section tipped over. Fixing is easy in the field, and solves the problems we had with the previous narrow sections of tipping the sections up. Works good for us.
make sure all sensors work if one doesnt the sensitivity is lost. follow the setting instructions in the book to start with but at least in my r50 I have trouble getting as much sensitivity as I would like. I set mine on range 2 with the dial on about 7 in corn and beans and if the needle moves much ther is loss but wind can really mess it up and I dont think rotor loss shows up very well.
We did similiar trick to Gleaner quick cut. We just couldn't stop breaking sickles where they would bend up between hold downs. We took the guards removed from switched out systems and used them all the way accrss for hold downs. We had to shim them for proper clearance. We also flipped every other section. Cut perfect and no problems.
