Most of the Deere fires involved problems with the fuel system, namly sucking in the tank because of vent problems. No sure why this caused a fire but imagine what happens when 200 gallon of diesel catches fire. No so good.

fuel leaks are not unusual on the sts I have had 2 broken main fuel lines and 5 split secondary filters. in very dusty conditions the fuel tank breather will block daily. Frequently need to replace rubber seals on return lines. When these go the engine compartment becomes drenched with diesel a great recipe for a fire.JD have not been able to solve this problem and have put it in the to hard basket.Same with some hydraulic oil leaks.
