Ed,I believe the lugs you are referring to are the Disrupters, made by Estes Mfg. in Flanagan,Ill. They are a 2-piece item that bolts in between the bars of the separating grates. There is a hard-surfaced thumb or lug that sticks up above the bars by about 3_4".This breaks up the mat of material as it passes overhead. There are 9 in a set and they are put any where in the grates in a staggered pattern.Hope this helps.

Scouter Ed, I have found a grate that has cutter bar sections extended up into the rotor cage and have used them in soybeans in a 1660. This grate is placed in the most rear position and sure helped with cutting up the stalks and spreading them out. JWK

Hy-Capacity in Iowa makes a chopper grate. It replaces the last grate in the rotor. Hy-Cap is a big remanufacture of TA's and clutches. See your local dealer. We sold about 10 last year and are working great. Still not like a factory chopper but you will not get any roping.
