Combines is there easy way to tell big engine in 9600

Can't completely answer your question but can tell you that I bought a new 9600 in 1993 and part of their advertising that year was the fact that they had increased the horsepower over the 1992 machine by 15 horsepower. I think the 1993 had 285 h.p. when the boost kicked in with the unloading auger on.

If you call your dealer with the serial number, they can tell you. They can punch the number into their computers and bring up the original factory options. I'm pretty sure the other way is by looking at the silver control box for the engine. The big engine had one brand name, the small engine had another. I can't remember the name brands and which is which. Sorry!

engine serial number 6076 and up is BIG engine engine serial number 6068 and down is small engine

High HP engine has an air temp. sensor in air pipe between after cooler and engine intake manifold. Reg. HP engine has pipe plug in this air pipe.
