I think that the tech is giving you the wrong info. When you unhook your flex head you dont need to calibrate your combine. The only time you need to calibrate your combine is, when you hook up a different header. You should caibrate everytime you change headers, or when you have a problem with auto header height.

I would have to say that one calibration at the begining of the season for each header would do. Also calibrate the deck plates, tilt, and concave indicators. And I would agree that if you have troubles, a recalibration could be helpful. The 50 and 60 series combine remembers the calibrations for each type of newer head. Their is a jumper wire in the harness of the head to tell the combine which header is atatched. Different pin combinations give you a corn head, flex head, etc.

Got the heads in today. Got the manual out and got to reading! Same as the 930f. Initial calibration was all it needed. And the initial cal only took about one minute so it was not bad at all anyhow. The 9650sts changeover went easy, programs took, head floats, hyd float works and the reel does all its moves fine. However the 9750 is bein a pain so far. New circuit boards in the armrest, ours would not take the new program. The tech and I got the head all tied on and ready to check everthing and the head will not calibrate. Our hyd float pressure will not lower to 1000 psi for the cal procedure. And the reel went up fine but has no gumption to come back down. And darn that reel gets way up there! So we have spent about all day runnin the schematics and tracing wires and swapping boards and parts off the 9650sts. Any suggestionsIJ Maybe we will find the prob tom.

I have to say that I find your problem to be downright funny. Sounds like too much fancy calibration going on.

Yep we thought it was funny to, after swapping every single circuit board and armrest control and corner post displays and boards. These two machines are both 686 serial n's so the parts swapped easily. When we switched the corner post circuit board the thing worked. Turns out to be a program in that board that was set up for a 2 valve sys and ours was only a one valve sys. The calibrations are intimidating but it is all easy. And yes there are alot of calibrations u can perform. Can't wait to see how the 35 footers work. Beans are turnin and corn is burnin! It'll be three weeks yet. But we will be ready.
