Your comments aren't entirely fair, but they're close! CAT does provide certain technologies, such as there Mobil-Trac system, to the lexion combine, in addition to thier engines. If you go to the AGCO website and select the Challenger product line, you'll notice that the equipment is labelled "Challenger" and NOT CAT, although (I believe) the powered equipment (i.e. tractors, swathers, etc.) are labelled "Powered by CAT". Some naysayers label Deere as a marketing company, but they fail to notice that Deere does in fact build most of thier own engines and powertrain components, in addition to powertrain components for competitive AG-manufacturers, including AGCO. CAT will, in turn, start to provide more technologies to AGCO, so in essence you'll probably see more CAT components in AG products than ever before. I think the AGCO_CAT venture is a good thing, and I think it will make Deere finally "sit-up and pay attention" to an impending, serious competitor. Until now, Deere has had little serious competition, because Deere is an excellent marketing company, but also an excellent innovator.
