Combines JD 105 Drive Belts

Matt, have you followed the sequence to tighten the belts - I think the variable pulley has to be in the middle of its travel when you tighten it- if not one will run tighter than the other and vice-versa. I will look in my manual tonight and get back with you. are the belts cog type or notIJ - that might make a difference 95

Yes, I am following the manual. I put the variable speed midway. I loosen up the 15_16 nut on the big pulley. There is a 3_4 nut that I tighten up, down and to the right, and it pulls the pulley down and to the right. The belts are the large semi tapered solid type. The lower belt is the one that seems to stretch. They look very new. The "John Deere" and the part number are still very visible. This is my first harvest with this machine, and the previous owner claims he had no problems.

On my 6600. The bushings on the center movable sheave were all shot. although my belts wern't stretching I had a severe vibration at higher speeds. You can't tell if your bearings and bushings are worn unless you loosen and remove the belts. They seemed tight with the belts adjusted up, but they were really shot and the tapered bearings in the hub were real loose too.it soundslike you are adjusting your belts correctly. May be worth checking these bearings
