Combines JD 6620

Our machine is a 1980 with 3400 hrs, 24-26 tires, tin in excellent shape and a nice all around machine. We are asking $15900 for it. Pretty consistent with other models around the area (NW-OH). Dealers are wanting anywhere from $12-19 for 6620 in fair to excellent. Hope this helps.

6620's are worth no more than the salvadge value of the motor now. IF you are interested in buying one to use, be careful because like all machines, 3000 hours means a whole lot of repairs should have already bean performed and probably haven't. It is a buyers market now, so look long and slow. Think about this, a 7720 with the hd rear axle(an absolute must even on 6620's-started in 83)can be bought at a sale now for no more than the 6620. Much more capacity and power for the bucks.

I'd just make sure that all belts are usable and havn't rotted up like the coolant line and the chains are able to move and don't bind from rust. Double check the "peter" hoses that you use to drain oil from the engine. They have always been the culprit for premature engine failures when one decided to spring a leak and the engine looses all the oil real fast like. I'd also be real liberal with grease. Grease the machine.......run it for awhile so it can get all spread around and warm the bearings a bit if there is any friction, then shoot some more in again. Do NOT FORGET the grease zerk in the cab under the seat for the engine countershaft. I'd still expect a gremlin to pop it's head at harvest. Hard to predict a problem running full load on hot days. The o-rings that do good now and for shuffling it between parking spots might let loose in 4 to 5 hours of operation. Best of luck

I would make sure to change all the fluids, filters, ect. Also check all the belts and lube the chains and bearings well!

that zerk under the seat you're talking about is not on the countershaft, it is for the engine primary output shaft bearing. The zerk for the countershaft on the drivers side is located on the zerk bank on the left side of the machine, just behind the drive belts. gs

There are two zerks under the cab platform. One above brake pedal linkages and another directly above drive tire.

I think there is actually one more on the unloader control armIJ I am selling my 6620 anyhow, so I probably won't be putting grease in there again. Merry Christmas! gs
