We run a 9650sts and cih2188 side by side for all of our harvest. They're both good machines and when the going gets tuff, the 9650 has the edge. The only dislike we have is the sts is very expensive to maintain compairing to the 2188. Also, while doing maintainence, the sts is more of a pita to work on than the cih2188. Basically they're comparable in everything else.

If I were you, I would not buy a JD rotary. I would get a late model walker machine. They are much more trouble free, less expensive to maintain and do a better job, in my opinion.

From my experiance STS may be a good combine after some years. My naygbours STS was sitting down more then half a season because some stupid mistakes in straw choper configuration. Belts and bearings was failing in couple hours of work. I believe JD's RND will solve those problems but This and second seasom I would pass on STS
