Combines JD grain sample

The Deere combines have not gotten any better since the end of the 20 series machines aka 6620_7720 etc. The neighbors with the 9000 series with all the updates and even the one with the STS bring in the dirtiest beans to the COOP every fall. And of course get the same price as the rest of us with much cleaner samples. Deere just has an excellent sales force that if it's Green it's Good. Massey comes in a close second for pods at the COOP.

I recently toured the Caterpillar plants in Illinois and in Omaha. The Cat rep. had a 2388 CIH, JD 9750, and Two Cat combines in their show barn. I couldn't get a straight answer why Gleaner wasn't represented in the barn but he did say that Gleaner, CIH, and the Cat combines all returned very good grain samples in all their testing, while the JD rotary had problems. He stated that JD rotaries are not up to par, sure they have capacity but cannot clean up the tank. I ran in a field of edible beans next to a 9650 rotary (we run a R-72) and we beat the JD in dirt, cracks, and seed coat. Don't want to say they had it set wrong,(the JD rep tried to get it clean) but the tank wasn't clean.

You hit it right on the nose. The STS's do have great capacity, but the quality seems to be sacrificed. I can only compare them to 2388's, and there is no question that the Case has much better samples. Never run a Gleaner.....yet, but hopefully that will change soon.
