Combines JD head on 62

What are you comparing to the deere head. We have a 6R hugger on our R62 and it will take corn just as fast as any other make as long as the rolls are maintained to pull the stalks through. Our neighbors deere looks like a old corn picker has been through the field.

If you must run other than a Hugger head, try a Case IH 10 series..they have knives on the snapping rolls and do a much better job of chopping the stalks than the JD head.

lOl I agree, if you have problems with a hugger doing a good job you seriously have got some heavy wear somewhere. These huggers are the leaders in low profile design. Most other makes had to use corn reels this year, our 89 hugger just slid right under it and ate it up. Minimal corn loses and the stalk were completely ate up. I will say I think the hyper harvest square stock on the stripper plates might be a bit better that the round stock. I just cant understand how some guys cant get a cornhead to work. Almost everyone on the market today has excellent cornhead designs in my opinion.

We needed another header and couldn't find another Hugger so we went with JD from a dealer in Mo. They installed a Bish header and modified the shafts. Works great. I even rigged a electric driven hydraulic power unit on header to work the hydraulic adjustable deck plates. Both do about the same job pulling corn but deck plates on JD adjust quicker for infield changes of stripper plates.

had my first season with a r62 and jd head. it works great. no problems, just seems like a lot of money for the adapter. if the rolls are good on a deere, it will do a great job of chewing up the stalks. it may not be like a CIH, but it has worked fine for me and my fields look just like they did when we had a black 630 on m2's. i have used the deere head on both the 62 and the m2 and compared to a black head a 630 the deere head is superior in my opinion.
