It looks like we posted our messages about this close to the same time. I missed the first show at the beginning, but recorded the repeat program. I find it intersting the English refer to a reel as a "sail," but am most familiar with their more descriptive names for combine components such as "threshing drum" for the cylinder and calling the feeder chain an elevator chain. Really, a lot of our really OlD combine literature refers to such at times. I would like to know when terms like feeder house came into our vocabulary. Even calling people "custom" harvesters. In the 1940's, they weren't called that. Just "harvesters" or combine men. Now that almost sounds like a Hollywood term. The invasion of the "Combine Men," ha! Note that the English still call the machines combine harvesters. I think we left that one behind in theearly 1950's.

I did see that Junkyard Wars. The team that used the sickle bar was using the better concept. If the clutch on their truck hadn't gone because of the weight i think they would won. The sickle bar is a much better concept than lawn mower blades.
