Combines K Corn and Soy Bean Special difference from straight K

I have a plain K2 with variable speed reel drive and hydraulic height control, I had to add walker cob screens for corn, bin size is 68 bushels without ext. on K2's. I don't believe elevator chains on a cornsoybean special are any different than on mine but could be wrong. I think the biggest difference is in the Chaffer and sieve. My K2 has worked successfully in corn, soys, wheat and oats. Good , simple and small.

Had a F corn and soy. Basically, it was the same machine as the small grain, but had a "package" of commonly used items for corn_soy. Things like heavier feeder beater with larger fingers and cast finger guides, high-capacity chaffer with long or square end fingers, variable speed header drive, larger tires for muddy conditions... I think you may be right on the roller chain elevator. If you have had dealings with detachable chain you know the roller chain is more desireable.

I can't remember for sure, but I think corn soybean specials had slip clutches added or heavier slip clutches, heavier feeder beater drum and fingers, cob shield for raddle chain, screens and risers on straw walkers and some extra pulleys for cylinder speed and sprockets to change thresher beater speed and probably a corn sieve.

A Corn_Soybean Special machine contains additional options to the base machine. Unlike the K owner manuals, the K2 owners manuals list the optional accesssories available plus the Corn_Soybean Special specifications. A 1978 K2 Corn_Soybean Specifications are as follows: COMBINE -Perforated panels, (unload auger, return, shoeIJ) -Straw Walker Risers -Hyd. V-Speed Reel Drive and Reel lift -Forged feeder beater fingers guides and .625" dia fingers -Chaffer, Round end, Deept tooth, 1.62" spacing -Cylinder speed Kits: 390-595rpm and 599-915rpm HEADERS, -10,12,and 13ft -Hydraulic reel lift and v-speed drive w_ dual ranges -Heavy Duty pickup reel w_ fine adjustment and lift ram safety latches -Rock guards -Heavy duty chrome sections OPTIONAl EQUIPMENT -Square end in lieu of the round end corn chaffer All other optional were just things you could pick and choose things like the over-the-bin clean grain elevator, chopper, header clutch, fuel gauge, tachometer, bigger tires, hour meters, etc... This list is much more extensive.

I might be all wet with this but the corn and soy specials had a different seive and chaffer. Allowing more capacity in corn 2X. From what I just read am I understanding right that there is a special screen to keep the corn cobs from plugging the chaffer. If so it probaly a bagain at any price otherwise you need to pull cob parts out every grain tank full or you will walk corn out the back.-
