You cleaned the radiator but as my wife asks me did you ClEAN it. Remove the rotary screen and shine a light from the outside in and get the eyeball in to see if EVERY flue is clean. It is always the radiator that had hidden trash in the corners and center that are hard to clean that we have found responsible for temp needle creep up. Other things result in radical temp increases. (assume you did check condition of the beltIJ)

You may also want to check the timing. We had a F2 that was out of time and it ran hot. Your K is not hot tell you see a blue flame out of the stack at night!

Boil the radiator would be the best, you can get by with a low pressure spray of water through the radiator if you do not have the time to pull it out. change the pressure cap also. double check the hoses to make sure they are in good repair and not collapsing. make sure the fan belt is tight and working properly.

The gauge on mine does the same thing, I have only owned it a little over a year so I never have known it to be any different but I will give mine a good cleaning and see what happens.

My K runs relative close to hot all the time. The previous owner I questioned said the same thing. He even put in the cooler thermostat same results. I only saw it once move closer to hot cutting good beans on a hot day this fall. It never got close again the rest of the season. I took the rotary screen and blew out and washed out radiator thoroughly. I did not any any excessive dirt beyond normal usage. It is clean to the eye throughout all the fins. Motor does not use oil at all(1974 model). May flush radiator for kicks next fall. My 1981 K2 guage never shows as hot as this K does. It is not scientific, just gut feeling that both machines operate on different levels on guages.
