Combines K2 Unloading Auger Problem

adjusting the belt on F2_K2's is crutical. First adjust length of belt pull rod. Get in cab and pull up on lever. The lever should just about touch the top roll pin when you REAllY pull hard. Then let pressure off, go out side and raise the top belt guide. Then raise the bottom chute up untill the belt touches the underside of the drive pulley. Tighten it there. Now adjust the top belt guide back DOWN so as to force the belt DOWN to clear the bottom sheave. This will 'loop' the belt and IF your belt is good and it is an OEM belt it will never touch the pulley even if the belt is rotated backward. Again it must have the slack necessary to do this by adjusting the pull rod as stated before. Shortening the pull rod 'to tighten the belt' will NEVER make the unloader belt turn the unloader easier. The belt runs on the bottom of the bin pulley not the sides. If the belt will not turn the auger the retarder strips need to be adjusted down in the bin bottom (or added if not present) or the flighting repaired as it is probably worn.

Thank you sir for the tips on setting this belt. One question.....what are retarder stripsIJ I'm not familiar with them and they sound like they are located in the grain tank. Please advise.....

The retarder strips are adjustable covers that are attached to the cover over the bottom tank auger that can be adjusted to limit the amount of grain that can get to the auger shen unloading. The advice tha tbran has given you is right on the money, but there is another problem that yo could have. I have found on the earlier F2 and K2 that the control rod across the back of te cab for the bin unloader is too short and will not give the full range of travel in the control lever. To check this, look at the 3 cornered plate that the rods are hooked to at the front corner of the grain tank. If the side between the two rods is parallel with the side of the grain tank, then there is no problem and tbran's adjustment advice will work. If it is sitting at an approximate 45 degree angle, then they will not be obtainable. You can corect this if this is what you find by doing the following. Unhook the rod that comes across the back of the cab and move the plate back until the side is parallel with the side of the grain bin. Measure the distance it will take t hook the rod up to the plate when it is set in this position. remove he rod from in back of the cab and cut the rod and add an extension onto the rod to increase the length of the rod so that it can be hooked to the plate with it set in this position. Then the ajustments that tbran gave you will work. Good luck. Gordon
