I have a K2 diesel. Engine is 4 cylinder 200 CID with a turbo. Mine has over 6,000 hours and the engine is still excellent. Oil consumption is minimal, fuel usage, dependant on job, 4-38" corn will get into fuel quick. Roughly 1.5 gallons_acre, in corn.

there was a 'kit' for 78 and later K2's. It consisted of bigger rams (not mandatory in my opinion) and a 'tie bar' which was mandatory if one had ANY side hills or slopes to harvest. This was simply a 1.5" nut that was welded to each final drive - a long and short 1.5" disc axle , one side of the short axle lH thread with a coupler lH_RH thread which kept the axle pulled together. This of course required the Black Adj corn hd drove kit for a K2 for either a 30" or wide row. We sold several. One K2 the customer backed out the fuel pump torque screw, put on 23.1-26 rice tires, added bin extentions and went harvesting in the mud and 'rolled' the axle right out from under it. I think this was the only structural frame failure I can remember on any unit we ever sold.
