Adjust the face plate of the feeder house all the way out, this will drop the knife.

I ran in to that same problem with mine and depending what year of Tx you have you might not have the adjustable face plate that needs to be tilted ahead. I took mine off welded on a six inch plate on the top and tapered sides and modified it slightly at the bottom where the header matches up.It is much easier to change heads now and the pickup feeds better and you can lock up the flexhead and still cut close to the ground(that will help the material feed in also)

If you have the mud hog 4 wheel drive unit on the back you can raise it up where the drive units attach to the axles. This will lower the knife about an inch. Our head ran about 3 inches above the ground and now it is 2. We do not have an adjustable back plate where the header tilt assembly is on our year. Our back tire hit the fuel tank bracket when we first got the combine. I welded an extension to the stop block. Now with the wheels moved to the lower position it has lots of clearance. Now I think it may have come from the factory this way to make the combine lower for transporting it on the truck. Are your front tires the regular sizeIJ If they are smaller that will raise the knife also. We also have had alot of trouble with short crops feeding in properly with this head (until today). New Hollands fix was to mount a bunch of rubber belt pieces to the pick up tines. They hung down below the teeth and slapped the piles of crop into the auger. They could get closer to the knife guards without worry of snipping all your teeth off .They helped a bit but not much. This week we put an add on air reel on it made by AWS. Got going in our first beans today and it works great. The knife cuts better and no slugging at all. Even working after dark. No more piles of crop just sitting there on the knife waiting to build up deep enough for the reel to grab it. Very noticable difference in ground speed with the crop feeding in even. good luck to you good luck
