Try slowing the cylinder down or opening up the concave clearance or maybe both. Also what kind of shape are you cylinder bars inIJ Worn bars will crack beans. At 13% moisture you should not be getting 30% splits.

Are you running alot of beans through your returnIJ If so check your screens. They may be set too tight.

Slow the cylinder and tighten the concave,Have you zeroed the concave, beans could be sitting on the concave and getting beat up more.Bars or concave could be wornIJ

We have had this problem also. We have a M2 and a l2. M2 does not crack hardly any, and the l2 cracks many. Both set the same. Only differece is we put chrome bars in the l2. We try not to use that machine when saving beans for seed. After spending the extra money for the chrome bars didnt want to take them back out.

Count teeth on sprocket on left side of cylinder. 18 is std. Options 25, 30, 35. The more teeth the faster the beater. Beater will crack beans if running to fast for conditions. Reasons for options is you may need to run beater faster for the greener conditions. Also zero out the concave. Many concaves were not sitting in machine square because mount for thresher housing welded in out of position. To check this you best pull out the thresher beater and with concave zeroed at front it should be zero in back. Good luck
