Combines l combine died after idling for a half hour wouldnt start

If you replaced the fuel primer you shouldnt have that as a problem now. The major problem I had with an l2 was the little breather hole in the fuel tank filler cap would plug in dusty conditions causing fuel flow to stop. Good luck.

I had a slug of bean dust get in the fuel line between the tank and the first filter due to the in-tank screen was missing. Take the line off at the first filter to make sure you have a good flow of fuel. I ended up blowing the line out and finding someone with small arms to put on a new in-tank filter.

If it starts when it cools off it could be the injector pump I have a problem with my 7040 not starting after it gets hot guy on the allis site told me to dump cool water on the injector pump if it starts then it's the pump,but mine didnt die after idling for a while so that may not be it just tring to help with what I was told to do,I will be replacing my pump as soon as it cools off some good luck

We found the main trouble, low voltage to injection pump solenoid, it sticks sometimes and it won't let any fuel go to injectors, I put 12 vt to solenoid and heard it click, started right up ,worked all day and then did it next time we idled combine. I need to check why low voltage from the switchIJIJIJIJIJIJIJ Thanks every one for your help.

Find all the wiring harness connector plugs from your cab circuits back to the engine and altenator. Disconnect and clean these connectors. You may find that some of the pins and sockets in the connectors are corroded from the effects of the dust and moisture over the years. Moist dust from the various crops can be quite corrosive. This can create a very high resistance in the connector preventing a sufficient voltage from getting through to activate the solenoid. We have had similar problems off and on over the years. Another possibility is that the contacts in the main cab switch have become worn and are only making very poor contact when the machine is running.

I have had the same trouble before with both an l2 and l3 combine. On the l2 I think it was because of the fact that there is no transfer pump only gravity. On the l3 the first filter had recently been replaced and I found that it was defective and let air into the system. It still gives a little trouble when hot but normally starts right up if the throdel is moved to about half open first. I assume that the pump on mine is getting week since it has over 3000hrs. Will it fire on eitherIJ Sometimes that is enough to get it primed again as long as there is fuel to the pump.
