If your fingers in the feeder beater are OK, check the condition of the beater that is behind the cylinder. Access is through the panel on top of feeder house. Just a guess... Good luck! Tom
Check the difference between the leading and trailing edge of the bars. If the trailing edge is taller and has a sharp edge reverse the bars. Make sure cylinder is level and beater fingers extend and retract at the proper time. New hard surfaced bar is .575 tall at leading edge.
tbran; a question! Can the l cylinders be reversed to get the backside of the bars turned to the front for near new threshing or did this only apply to the l2's and 3'sIJ I remember it use to take two of us about 2 hours total time to reverse the l2's thresher when the bars started to wear. Cheers!
yes, but the time is about = that of bar revesal. Remove the top, use a goo impact with 6 point and have a torch handy for the stripped bolts. Use grade 8 's as it is not for strength but to keep the heads from wearing so as to hold a wrench_socket.
One advantage to removal and reversal of complete cylinder is that it gives you a good opportunity to replace the cylinder bearings as well as the bearings on the thresher beater and tailings auger. From my experience those cylinder bearings start getting pretty rough by around 500 hrs. Thats my free advice for the day,it's worth just what you paid for it!!! Have a good one. Catskinner
Thanks all, I hate to admitt what my root trouble of feeding was,( although I think I need to reverse the bars for next year). I moved the reel out about 2 1_2 to 3 inches, not used to having this years tall and thick crop. Thanks all again. I am still learning and sometime the smallest things can make the biggest differences. I also advanced the feeder beeter finger timing and the header agar.
