Combines l2 Cylinder Concave clearance crooked

We just adjusted our cylinder_concave clearence after putting a new bearing in on the cylinder. We dropped our cylinder all the way down on the concave then we raised it 1_2 inch on either side according to a tape measure. We had to adjust the gauge to match on one side. You can easily have extra threads showing on the adjustment bolt on one side without your cylinder being out of wack.I would drop your cylinder all the way down then raise it until a common measurement is taken on either side then adjust your gauge to match.

Thresher raddle housing holds concave in place. If this is dropped down or broken lose on one side, this can make the differance you are seeing.

At the shop we have the combine running ( drop off header ) at idle, turn the threshing system on,leave the header switch off and then we crank the cylinder all the way until the bars start ticking on the concave on each side. Turn the bolt's until it just stop's ticking and reset your gauge's to zero, that will make sure your clearance is correct on both side's. Hope this help's. The difference in the rod bolt's will not make any difference in the combine performance.

I would check bolts that hold concave, when I bought my M2 some of the bolts had come out and it was letting concave move around. You can see the back four bolts by looking thru rattle chain inspection door on the side of combine,if I remember right you will have to drop concave down to check front bolts.

I've seen plenty l2s with mislocated mount for thresher raddle housing thus concave sits in machine crooked. Check to see right and left rear are at zero clearance at the same time as front left and right. Hard to check back without removing thresher beater. We had to cut right thresher housing mount loose from housing and then jack concave up and zero into place before welding back together. Some machines went for years like this for no one ever zeroed concave to rear check bars. Don't know if this is why you are seeing this difference but well worth checking out. Good luck
