Combines l2 cylinder speed backs off in heavy straw

first get the unloader pulley off the right side. usually lock both clutches up with dead engine to remove left handed threads of pulley. then take bearing holder nuts off left side and drive shaft out the left side. we normally replace all bearings on main clutch shaft at this time, guess we don't want the practice of removing the shaft in couple hundred hours. hopefully the variable speed just needs cleaning and grease and a new spring. if it has a snap ring holding it together, if it's together, then be prepared for a different shaft.

This may sound stupid but....is thresher belt tightIJ Ours had been slipping in heavy wheat. Exact problem you described. Just a thought.

Turns out the threads were stripped on the front sheave pivot shaft and threaded sprocket that screws onto it on lower right side of machine. They are supposed to changes the cylinder speed when you turn the crank in the cab. With the treads stripped nothing was really happening down below. Shaft and sprocket = $550.
