Combines l2 Duals

I question the rolling radius of tires mentioned. Most dualing is with same size tire as per matching rolling radius.

I had a 77 l2 that I fitted with duals (18.4 X 34) a year after I bought it. I had one of the finals give out in 93. I rebuilt it and also did the other one at the same time. I think the reason the bearing failed in the one final was due to moisture accumulation and rust during the off season, as the other final didn't really show any unusual wear. After I rebuilt the final I always checked the bearing condition yearly - jack up one side of the combine so the wheel is just off the ground and put a pry-bar under the tire and pry to see if the axle moves up and down. Also change the lube in the final every 500 hours. Hope this helps. Ed in MT

Why do you want duals with only a 18ft front herbIJ If you are working on slopes may-be but all of our ls,l2s and l3 were fitted with 30-5 32s and they worked well in hard going conditions. Our l3 came with the 24-5 tyres and we changed that straight away to the 30-5s.Then again are you going sheep chasing with the gleaner and need the extra width to flatten the sheepIJ:) john

As Russ mentioned before, I would check the radius of the different tire sizes. Also, you may need a wider header. Add up the total width with duals on then I would reccomend having 30" beyond the outside of the tire for going around curves and etc.

I would agree. The rear will sink first. We have 30.5 X 32 on front and 14.00 X 20 on rear, and the rear tires leave the tracks. On a side note, has anyone widened the rear axle on one of theseIJ The rear tires won't quite track behind the front tires with the wheels set out.
