A series 2 is what was made at the time the l2 was made. A series 3 which would start with a 3 such as a 318 or 320 has a hydraulic pump on the header to drive the reel. You have to run wires from the soleniods that control the reel speed on a l2 with a series 2 header setup to the wiring harness for the series 3 head. Gleaner did have a wiring harness to convert this over. Also the flex header control will need a wiring harness to convert it over. This is not a major change over. Most all series 500 headers fit the R and N series although a few were made for the lM machines. In my area 320 headers are hard to find and most series 2 headers are junk but the 15', 16' and 18' are out there. The green stripe heads are newer [1986 and up]. Corn head wise get an A630 1982 or newer.
