I made a socket by welding a couple short pieces of angle iron together, then welded an old 3_4 drive socket to the top of it. If a pully is a driving pulley, turn the same direction the shaft rotates in order to loosen. If a pulley is a driven pulley, turn opposite direction of rotation to loosen.

We made a "socket" by using 1" flat bar and then welded a 1-1_4" nut to the "socket", this will enable you to use a 1-1_4 socket with a 3_4 drive to loosen it. Best as I can remember, it doesn't take much to break it loose. Sorry, can't remember which way to turn.

It has left hand threads, also may have an arrow showing loosen. I usually use the door wrench, stuck thru the spokes, then hit the wrench with a hammer to loosen.
