In about 1978 they went with a large clutch magnet and most machines still have original. Older machines that had a small magnet would accept the larger one and I bet that is where some clutches went. I have saw some magnets that have been so hot the paint is burned off and they still are working. One must be sure they don't get slipped to long. Clear machine fairly well if it has slugged to prevent severe clutch slipage. Be sure fuze is clean and making a good conection and be sure brusholder is not droping the voltage. If your clutch has a sign of being hot or if machine has been slowing up on you you should replace brusholder or the brushes in it. You could check with a electic motor repair shop and they may be able to rewind one but I doubt you will need a spare. Good luck. Dan
