Combines l2 to a R60

My family made the decision to move up from a cherry l2 to an R60 6 years ago so I wouldnt have to work all night long getting the crop in the bin. You cannot imagine the increase in capacity. After learning how to run a high capacity machine I no longer have to work after sundown. I would never go back to a smaller machine. You should be able to steal a Gleaner on any Deere dealers lot. You know he didnt allow much for it in trade so you shouldnt have to pay much for it either. You might be better off having a local machinery jockey buy it for you. Deere dealers around here dont give anything away to farmers but they will to other dealers. My best Gleaner dealer is 75 miles away. We have no trouble getting parts delivered to our farm within 1 or 2 days. I almost never have in-season breakdowns so a 2-day wait is no big deal. What year is the R60IJ We made the switch in 1990 to an R60 which was the Hawk version special edition (I think) Big increase in capacity, we ran it with a 30' grain head and 8 row corn head. It handled all crops just great, never tried any beans with it. 3 or 4 years ago I talked my father-in-law (case owner)into renting an R60 to help with his wheat harvest it was an 1989 model. Well they had made a change between 89 and 90. That 89 was a dog that hadn't been cared for very well so it make a difference. Kurt

Kurt: The dealer says it is a 1990 model. I havent seen it yet but will check the serial number when i do. I will go and look at it next week and will let you know what i find. Thanks......

One quick way to tell if it's a Hawk Series is if the cab interior is white_gray instead of the tan. They also have a outline of a hawk's head on the hopper decals. Tom langan
