I,m not a gleaner guy but if that engine has roosamaster inj. pump it is probly the check valve on the return line of inj. pump. It is designed to hold 4 to 7 lbs. of presure on the pump when shut off. I think yours is bleeding off over night. Easy fix but can be aggrevating if you don't think of it. I hope this helps.

You may need to check the injector tips, too. I had a 7060 with those type and the injector tips make a big difference when starting. Air leak is very good suggestion, too.

Does it start smoking very quickly after starting to crankIJ Is so it likely is getting the fuel but not enough heat from compression or fuel isn't atomized well enough for a good start at ambient temperature. Won't cost you much to just go ahead with the check valve even if it does start to smoke right away and the better the injectors atomize the fuel the better she'll start. If you have the intercooled 301 (145hp)(649I) of the early '80s you may find there isn't much you can do. Seems like advance swun to easy at cranking speed with heavy cool (not warm) fuel. Seems the compression ratio and point of injection on these machines just made them borderline for good starting when cool at all. But once you got them running and cleaned out the purred like a kitten. Good luck

I've got a 7580 with the roosamaster pump...been having the same problem for a while..have to crank it a lot if it sits more than about 12 hours...starts easy once it starts to smoke....where exacly is the check valve you are referring to IJ..I've checked all the lines as well..and replaced the electric fuel pump (thought it was the check valve in the fuel pump).
