Combines l3 corn shelling problems

Are the cobs with corn left on whole_half or piecesIJ Back in 1992 when we had a real wet fall and the corn never dried down the cobs were very spongy and no matter how I set my F2 it would leave some corn on the cobs. Typically the cobs with corn left on were split lenght wise. The only one who had much sucess that year in getting all the corn off the cob were the rotaries. Call me captain obvious but did you check to make sure the concave is levelIJ Could it have dropped on one sideIJ Or could you have a hole on one side of the concaveIJ Hopeful the Gleaner Guru's will be able to discern your problem and soon you will be back in 'Happy Hyperize land'. You said you put new rasp bars on, did you replace the thresher barsIJ They are channel iron bars that go on the door. We had the same problem in beans 2 years ago when the moisture was 20%+. Dealer didn't have any so we sharpened the old ones and it really helped. There are some that are high profile for corn. Might help.

Obtain and intstall a set of lap filler bars as already suggested, they are mandatory over 20% moisture. Inspect your grate for a chunk missing due to foreign object injestation . Your problem is probably similar to a waxxy corn situation i encountered one time. We finally, after adding lap filler bars, ended up at about 5_8" cylinder setting and around 600 RPM and had to add 2 concave filler strips. The first one is narrower than the second so they are two different part nos. 71177443 and 71177324 - they clip in so are not that big a deal. 71172823 is a hi-profile bar. The customer added this later and said it really helped. You will have to raise the cyl as this is now the setting for zero. I did not see this so I am passing on the info. We have several conventional owners that run the high profile bar in corn and take the time to change each year. IT lets one run a wider setting on the grate while giving more corn on corn shelling.

Thanks everybody for the help and ideas. We ended up putting a new thresher bar at the front of the concave. We also added another bar onto the bottom door. This did the trick. After a little tinkering with the concave setting and the cylinder speed, it was doing a great job. No more cob in the tank, and the fines have been eliminated too. Thanks again for the help.
