Combines l3 vibration

I've got an m2 that came with goodyears. They would shake the freaking teeth out of your head going down the road if you tried to go very fast. Put armstrong rice and cane (power lugIJ)on about two years ago and it smooth it out. The only problem, there is some vibration starting to come back around 14 to 17 mph.Not as bad,but some.Over and under its fine. Somebody may have another idea.

We have the same problem with our l3. We have Armstrong 30.5-32 rice and canes. She rides really smooth once you hit 18, and get her up towards 24. But man she rides like a mennonite tractor on steel between 13 and 18 like AlanE said. I wouldn't worry about the vibration, just make sure ya got everything tight or else it might end up in your lap!

Yes certain tires had that characteristic to them. We had to change tires on some machines. Can't remember what brand or design bothered. Usually it would go away sometime before full speed. I have seen some lugs about wore off and still bother. Maybe you could play with tire pressures some to see if it will help you out enough to live with. Did you have a head on it for I think problem was worse with out the added weight of a header.

Had an l2 with rice tires. When the center of the tire was running on a flat spot in the road-no problem. If the lugs got on the crown or off the shoulder of the road so that the machine was running on the lugs towards the edge of the tire-look out and make sure your glasses are strapped on and cab items anchored. As the tire wore in the center, vibrations got worse. Rob.

this is just an l characteristic that you have to learn to live with we had 2 ls one with 23.1x34s that would vibrate your skull right off your shoulders, unless you had the 6row corn head on or rode it out till it hit top speed and one with 18.4x34s that was really smooth but i dont think it went fast enough to vibrate

I could be wrong on this one but I noticed that with the 23.1x32's we had on our M2 when we got it (not sure on the brand) that were wore out. The combine vibrated like crazy with these tires and our M did too with another set of the same style tires with more tread. What I think it is and I might be wrong but if you go with a radial tire I think this might solve the problem. We now have radial 30.5x32's with little to no vibration. Our Case 1175 did this too with armstrong tires on it until last year when got new radials for it. Of course being a tractor the whole cab didn't shake but you could still notice a big difference. You might check the cylinder bearings on each side. Our machine was exactly the same and it was to the point that i did not shut off the machine all day to keep the thing balanced. I also wondered if the dirt was sticking on one side because when you moved fields it was horrible and after about 3 bins it improved. Good luck Brent

check the belt tightener from the engine to the counter shaft and also from the counter shaft to the hydro. If the bushings get loose in them they can cause a vibration. The hydro is always turning when the engine is running so it shouldn't make a differance if it's moving or not.
